Dr. Virgil Kuassi Lokossou is a Visionary public health leader with over 20 years of experience in health systems strengthening, emergency preparedness, and regional coordination in West Africa. He has led major public health initiatives at the West African Health Organization (WAHO) and ECOWAS, including responses to COVID-19, Ebola, and mpox. Notably, he is currently the Director of Health Care Department in WAHO where he coordinated impactful projects funded by international partners like AfdB, USAID, and IDRC. He played a key role in advancing Universal Health Coverage and health Security across West Africa. Dr. Lokossou holds multiple advanced degrees and authors over 100 scientific publications in peer reviewed journal.
