Managing Director - Nigeria Health Watch

Vivianne Ihekweazu is the Managing Director of Nigeria Health Watch, a health communication and advocacy organisation based in Nigeria, advocating for improved health and access to health services. She leads the strategic direction of the organisation and is responsible for designing and implementing health communication and advocacy strategies and campaigns for government, not-for-profits, and development partners in Nigeria.

Her work currently focuses on nutrition, maternal newborn and child health, routine immunisation, sexual and reproductive health & rights and health security. She played a leading role in the COVID-19 crisis & emergency risk communications team, supporting the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in public health communications, defining messaging priorities and developing public health guidelines.

Vivianne has over 20 years experience as a communication professional. Prior to focusing on the health sector, Vivianne worked at some of the world’s leading communications and research agencies in Europe and Africa in the development, media and real estate sectors.

Vivianne engages with several voluntary efforts for the community. She was a mentor on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Initiative and other enterprise development programmes, providing women entrepreneurs with business and management training.

She has an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria), an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Sussex and an Msc in Global Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She is also an African Public Health Leaders Fellow at the Centre for Universal Health, Chatham House. Prior to this, she received a BA (Hons) in Economics & Business Administration.
