Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Stakeholder Mapping

The East African region has faced a rising demand for healthcare products due to population growth, unmet medical needs, and new health initiatives. Despite this demand, the region heavily relies on pharmaceutical imports, a dependency underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic. To mitigate this, local manufacturing has become a priority, presenting significant opportunities for investment.

AHB was approached by an investment firm to support them in identifying potential invest opportunities in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector in East Africa (long-term patient capital) that will promote equality, inclusive economic growth and sustainability.

AHB conducted a comprehensive stakeholder mapping exercise in the countries of interest, identifying key players in the manufacturing sector, including companies, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. In addition, detailed assessments of market size, manufacturing capabilities, leadership, R&D activities, supply chain logistics, and investment potential was also carried out. Following the mapping and analysis, AHB organized and facilitated strategic meetings between the client and potential stakeholders in the target countries.

The project has equipped the client with essential insights and connections, enabling more informed and strategic investment decisions in the East African pharmaceutical sector. The analysis has also provided a solid foundation for understanding the market dynamics and identifying viable investment opportunities that will strengthen the local pharmaceutical manufacturing in the region.
